Induction and Field Effects

CC bond in ethane is perfect because the bond is nonpolar connecting the two atoms are equivalent. However, the C-C bond in kloroetana polarized by the presence of electronegative chlorine atoms. This polarization is actually the sum of two effects. First, the atom C-1 has been the lack of density Cl electronegativity electron by a larger, partially replaced by CC bond is nearby resulted in polarization of this bond and a charge small positive at C-2. The polarization of the bond caused by polarization neighbor bond is called induction effect. This effect is not only felt by bond neighbors, but can also effect until a further bond. This effect decreases with increasing distance. C-C bond polarization causes too little polarization of the three bond C-H methyl.
